    Illustrated, Leather Binding

    Illustrated with a frontispiece, title vignette, five plates, and numerous in-text images. Collated complete. A collection of thrilling accounts from voyages and expeditions in the Arctic regions, explored only by the most adventurous seamen, featuring wonderous successes and terrible disasters. With chapters on discovering Iceland, the Esquimaux, explorations of Greenland, voyages in search of a North-East Passage, voyages in search of a North-West Passage, the discovery of the magnetic pole, the English expedition of 1875, and more. Edited by James Mason. Dated from the British Library.

    Condition

    Bound in half calf with cloth covered boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Discolouration to the extremities with the odd mark to the boards. Front hinge just starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. School prize bookplate to the front pastedown.
