    Folding Maps, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

    A large folding plan of the Great Western Railway Severn Tunnel.

    Measuring 30" by 22.5".

    This plan of the Severn Tunnel contains a map of the proposed area of the tunnel, located in the South West of England and part of Wales. Also included are sketches of the cross sections and longitudinal section, alongside a scale for both of these elements.

    Dated c1875 from the period in which these plans were being prepared for the construction of the Severn Tunnel, which took place between 1873 and 1886.

    Condition

    A folding plan. Externally, sound, with closed tears to the folds and handling marks to the plan. Tide marks along the central folds. Light spotting to the verso. The odd pencil mark.
