Illustrations include a frontispiece and three illustrated plates throughout the text.
This is a lovely copy of John Bunyan's religious allegory, 'The Pilgrim's Progress'. First published in 1678, this work follows a man aptly named Christian as he advances along the path of religious self discovery. Since its publication, 'The Pilgrim's Progress', has been translated into more than two-hundred languages and has never been out of print.
Written by John Bunyan (1628-1688), an English writer and Puritan preacher who wrote nearly sixty works, many of them which were expanded from his own religious sermons.
With an ink inscription to the half title page, which reads, 'Jane Rapley, from Mr and Mrs. Bardow, Christmas Day, 1879'.
Undated, so dated from the ink inscription on front endpaper, as well as from printer's information.
Ten pages of publisher's adverts to rear of text.
Collated, complete.
