A collection of speeches on literary and social topics from Charles John Huffam Dickens, an English novelist, journalist, short story writer and social critic who created some of literature's best-known fictional characters. He is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. With chapters on gardeners and gardening, administrative reform, Thackeray, dramatic college schools, the House of Lords, and much more. Dated from the Victoria and Albert Museum libraries.
Condition
In the original red cloth binding. Externally, sound with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and board edges with the odd small mark. Light loss to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge just starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and minor age toning to the endpapers.
