What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
Very scarce.
Dated from an ink inscription to the front panel, '1869'. This coincides with the years preceding the construction of the Severn Tunnel, when discussions were taking place.
A prospectus surrounding the construction of the Severn Tunnel and Railway, with a branch link to the Bristol Channel docks at Kingroad.
This prospectus outlines the aims of this railway, highlighting the improved communication between the South West and Bristol, and South Wales and the West and South of England. The total expected passengers and projected costs are also discussed.
With two handwritten annotations, altering the text, thought to have been the work of the chief consulting engineer, John Hawkshaw. One of these corrections replaces the number of passengers per year, with 36,000 swapped for 360,000.
Condition
Disbound, as issued. Pages are bright, with some light handling marks. A few ink annotations. Light creasing to the wraps, with two small closed tears to the extremities.
