Decorative Binding, Illustrated, Rebound

A new edition. Dated from similar copies. In full morocco decorative binding with gilt detail. With a frontispiece, engraved title page and six engravings on steel. Collated complete. A collection of poems, plays, essays and prose by the notable Anglo-Irish writer, Oliver Goldsmith. Goldsmith is best known for his novel 'The Vicar of Wakefield' and for his pastoral poem, 'The Deserted Village', both of which feature in this edition.

Condition

In full decorative morocco binding. Externally, very smart with rubbing to the extremities. Small crack to the upper front joint. The front hinge is strained but still firm. Offsetting to the paste-downs and free endpapers and marks to the rear paste-down and free endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Binding slightly strained between pages 96 and 97. Pages generally bright and clean with age-toning to the edges and a few scattered spots throughout, heavier towards the front and rear of the book.
