Very scarce work. A dictionary of the biographies of eminent persons from recorded history, with the pronunciation of every name recorded. This volume provides insight into the lives of important figures across time from Aaesens to Zwingli. Written by Samuel Orchart Beeton, an English publisher, best known as the husband of Mrs Beeton (Isabella Mary Mayson) and publisher of Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management. He also founded and published Boy's Own Magazine, the first boys' magazine, considered the most influential of the time. Dated from the British Library.
Condition
In the original half calf with marbled boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and light wear to the extremities. Light fading to the spine and board edges with the odd small mark to the boards. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot or handling mark. Light age toning to the first and last few pages.
