Leather Binding, Very Scarce
A unique scrapbook containing an extensive collection of coat of arms and crests, likely excised from letter-headed paper and envelopes. Including a total of 373 emblems and coats of arms, and 133 letterhead addresses.
Including the emblems of eminent people such as Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Prince and Princess of Hesse, the Duchess of Cambridge, the King of Prussia, the King of Hanover, Lady Mary Curzon, Baroness Windsor, Lord Hastings, Captain Baring, G. Muirhead, Duchess of Beaufort, Lady Honeywood, Baroness de Chandois, Lady Holmesdale, and more.
This scrapbook also includes the emblems and coasts of arms of ships such as the H.M.S. Tartar, Algiers, Ariel, Hector, Antelope, colleges such as Trinity College, Christ Church College, Eton College, Rugby, and regiments such as the Royal Engineers, 14th Hussars, 78th Highlanders, 32th Regiment, 12th Royal Lancers, and more.
Additionally including the addresses of various homes, such as Quenby Hall, Wadenhoe House, Huntley Hall, Barkby Hall, Thurgarton Priory, Birdsall House, and more.
Condition
In a full morocco binding with decorative blind stamps to the boards, and with metal clasps. externally, generally smart, a little rubbed with marked. Lacking one of the metal clasps. A small amount of loss to the the head of the spine, heavier loss to the tail, with a tear to the rear joint. Spine is faded. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with scattered spots and handling marks.
