Volume II - From the reign of William and Mary to the death of George II by Hume and Tobias Smollett with a continuation to the reign of queen Victoria by William Farr ESQ. Volume III - From the accession of George III to the tenth year of the reign of queen victoria with a continuation to the reign of queen Victoria by William Farr ESQ. Each volume illustrated with a frontispiece, a vignette title page, and plates. Collated: Volume I lacking three plates at page 169, 187 and 320. All volumes lacking maps (3). Volume III with an additional plate of Queen Victoria. Collecting the histories of famous historians, David Hume a Scottish philosopher, historian, economist, and essayist and Tobias Smollett, a Scottish poet and author known for his picaresque novels. Continued by William Farr and introduced by Henry Stebbing.
Condition
In a half calf bindings amateurly rebacked. Externally, worn with heavy rubbing and loss to the head and tail of the spines. Hinges reinforced to all volumes with front hinge to volume III strained. Backstrip lifting to volume I. Internally, binding strained in places. Pages are spotted throughout, heavier to the plates. Closed tear to vignette title page of volume I which has been repaired to the verso.
