'The Companion For the Altar', extracted from another work and bound here separately with many blank leaves for note-taking.
'The Companion For the Altar' is a useful religious text guiding the reader on the nature and necessity of a sacramental preparation for receiving the Holy Communion.
The additional blanks in this volume have been entirely filled with the ink of a prior owner, detailing various sermons, meditations. Four pages of notes to the front, and fifty to the rear.
Undated, dated from the ink inscription to the front endpaper, which is dated October 1840. The ink inscription of of a J. Monckton. The only other name which appears in the notes is that of Elizabeth Mary Monckton.
Condition
In a full straight grain morocco binding. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the spine and extremities. Boards and spine are a little discoloured with some spots. Spine is a little faded. Very minor bumping to the extremities. Ink inscription to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean.
