Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

New edition. Very scarce work. With a frontispiece. A delightful children's story following a young girl called Lucilla who is taught about an excellent clergyman acting as a missionary across Africa and decides that she too would like to become a missionary. She discusses her plans with her mother. Written by Lucy Lyttelton Cameron, a British magazine editor and a writer for children with religious themes who often wrote under the name Mrs. Cameron. Four leaves of publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities. Hinge just starting but firm between pages 24 and 25. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small handling mark. A contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper, dated 1857.
