A scarce collection of extracts highlighting the beauty of William Shakespeare's writing, taken from an array of his works and placed under an alphabetised series of categories such as 'Female Friendship', 'Benevolence' and 'Loyalty'.

With a frontispiece illustration and and vignette to the title page. 

With an account of his life to the beginning of the work.

Condition

In full tree calf binding. Externally, smart. With rubbing and slight bumping to the extremities, resulting in small loss of leather to the spine head and tail. Slight cracking to the hinges and marks and a couple small chips to the rear board leather. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with occasional spots and offsetting to the endpapers. With owner's contemporary ink inscription to the front pastedown.
