A handsome, finely decorated copy of this title, bound in full calf.
Carefully crafted gilt detail to spine tips, doublures, and tooling to the ribbed spine, complement this work, from the hand of noted naturalist, Rev. J. G. Wood.
Originally published in 1861.
Features a frontispiece, and 7 unnumbered monochrome plates, as well as frequent vignette illustrations throughout.
Decorated with marbled endpapers and text block edges, in addition to a gilt 'Sir W. Borlase's School' motif to front board.
The school, based in Marlow, has been operating since the 17th Century.

Condition
Bound in brown full calf. Externally, in lovely condition. Evidence of label removal from front board. Odd mark to boards. Small areas of rubbing to spine. Bookplate to front pastedown. Weakness to rear hinge. Internally, overall firmly bound, some strain. Front hinge broken. Ink stain to marbled edges. Pages bright and clean, very occasional spotting.
