First and limited edition of five hundred copies, signed by the author, of which this is number sixty-three. Signed by Norman Douglas. 

In the publisher's original blue cloth binding with printed paper label on the spine. With a monochrome frontispiece by Emery Walker and two further tipped-in plates. Collated, complete. 


Contains both the original epigraph by Leonidas of Tarentum and a private dedication following the title page. 

George Norman Douglas (8 December 1868 – 7 February 1952) was an Austro-Scottish novelist and zoologist, now best known for his 1917 novel South Wind.

Condition

In the publisher's original light blue cloth binding with printed paper label on the spine. Externally, very smart with minor shelf wear and age toning to extremities and joints of boards, and head and tail of spine. The odd stain to front and rear paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright with marginal age toning and the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages. Fore edge roughly cut.
