The first edition set complete in two volumes in the publisher's original green cloth binding with gilt lettering on the spines.
Beaten Paths was the last work of Irish writer Thomas Colley Grattan, and is a vivid two-volume memoir reminiscing his life in Ireland and around the world. The autobiography includes Grattan's recollection of his encounter with Wordsworth and Coleridge in Brussels in 1828.
This is a scarce and fascinating last work by Grattan, filled with anecdotes and historical sketches.
With an unidentified prior owner's bookplate in the front paste downs.
Condition
In the publisher's original green cloth binding with gilt lettering on spines. Externally, very smart with only minor handling marks to boards. Bumping to extremities and heads and tails of spines. Unidentified circular labels to spines mostly worn off. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean with only marginal age toning, heavier to first and last few. Unknown prior owner's bookplate in the front paste downs.
