Written by Scottish naturalist and photographer, Seton Gordon, largely known for his photographic depictions of the Scottish highlands. In this work, Gordon presents his time exploring the snowy plains of Spitsbergen archipelago, during a trip with the Oxford University Expedition to northern Norway in 1921.
With sixty three monochrome plates containing one hundred and fourteen photographs and two maps, one of which is folding.
Collated, complete.
Condition
Bound in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with light fading to the spine and board extremities, and the odd mark. Faint crease to front board and a touch of cockling to the rear. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages.
