First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

The first edition of George Augustus Sala's Accepted Addresses, a scarce collection of his writings, in the publisher's original green embossed cloth binding.

George Augustus Sala was an English writer and journalist, and famously wrote for The Daily Telegraph. He was a known associate of Charles Dickens, who published much of Sala's articles and stories, and sent him to Russia as a special correspondent in 1856.

This collection features twenty-three of Sala's shorter works, including the eponymous Accepted Addresses. 

With prior owner's bookplate to front paste down. Also contains a page of the original publisher's list of new works advertisement at the rear of the work.


Condition

In the publisher's original green embossed cloth binding, with gilt titling and decoration on the spine. Externally, very smart with only light bumping to the spine head and tail and extremities. With prior owner's bookplate to front paste down. Internally, generally firmly bound except for at the centre, with only slight age toning to pages.
