This six volume set includes letters by Thomas Babington Macauley from 1807-1859, edited with explanatory notes by Thomas Pinney.

Thomas Babington Macaulay was an English Whig politician, essayist, poet and historian. He is most recognized for his 5 volume work History of England, securing him as one of the founders of the Whig Interpretation of history.

His essays were extremely influential for a generation of Englishmen, encouraging belief that their institutions would benefit developing countries under their care. His clear writing style became a standard in English journalism for half a century.

In publisher's original cloth bindings. In the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, lovely. Very minor shelf wear to spine head of volume 1. Mark to front board of volume 4. Dust wrappers are excellent, with very minor shelf wear to head of spines, most significant to wrap of volume 6. Mark to front of wrap of volume 4. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean and bright throughout.
