This is a smart two-volume set of noir thrillers set shadowy underworlds of Glasgow and Berlin, consisting of: 

The Cutting Room (2002). The story follows Rilke, a gay auctioneer in Glasgow, who stumbles across some disturbing photographs while in a deceased man's estate, appearing to depict a murder. This work received multiple awards, including the Saltire First Book of the Year Award and the Crime Writers' Association John Creasey Memorial Dagger. 

The Bullet Trick (2006). In this noir thriller, Glasgow magician William Wilson flees to Berlin to escape his past, only to be ensnared in a web of secrets, betrayal across Glasgow, Berlin and London.

In the publisher's original cloth and pictorial paper wrap bindings. Externally, excellent. The slightest rubbing and bumping to extremities. Slight rubbing to cloth boards of "Bullet Trick". Dust wrappers, lovely. Slight rubbing and bumping to the upper extremities of the wrap on "Bullet Trick", particularly to the head of the spine. One spot of slight damp staining to cover of wrap on "Cutting Room". Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Author's signature to title page.
