What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated throughout with numerous colour images. An exploration of Renaissance bodies, both dressed and undressed, offering a specific focus to the male body as seen from behind. Oftentimes scholarship on the subject of male bodies in this period of art is concentrated on phallic-orientated masculinity, connecting to issues of patriarchy and power. This volume instead explores the meaning attached to the male backside in Renaissance art and culture. Written by Patricia Lee Rubin, an American art historian and a scholar of Italian Renaissance art.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrapper is very smart with a small closed tear to the rear fly leaf. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
