What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Signed

In the publisher’s original cloth bindings with whimsical gilt embellishments.

These volumes are first editions, both signed by the author, Joanne Harris.

Both copies are richly illustrated throughout in black and white by Bonnie Helen Hawkins.

This set consists of:

A Pocketful of Crows (2017). This is an enchanting, dark modern fairy tale based on the Child Ballad "The Brown Girl" (no. 295). The Child Ballads are 305 traditional ballads from England and Scotland. "I am as brown as brown can be, And my eyes as black as sloe; I am as brisk as brisk can be, And wild as forest doe".

The Blue Salt Road (2018). This is the second in the series of three stand-alone novellas. This is a lyrical retelling of the selkie myth, written after a trip to the Isle of Skye.  The story is loosely inspired by Child Ballad #113. "An earthly nourris sits and sings And aye she sings, “Ba lilly wean, Little ken I my bairn’s father, Far less the land that he staps in". A wild, nameless girl defies her kind to follow her heart after falling in love with a human.
