This biographical work combines the impressive career of J. R. Stenhouse, a Scottish-born seaman, Royal Navy Officer and Antarctic navigator.

He is best known for commanding the vessel SY Aurora during a brutal ten-month entrapment in the ice while serving for Sir Ernest Shackleton's Endurance expedition. 

Illustrated with numerous monochrome photographs and maps.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with minor shelf wear. Dust wrapper is also excellent, with slight edge wear and a couple marks to the spine head. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
