What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
Two volumes. First edition. An annual hardback volume of records relating to the history of Gloucestershire. The Bristol and Gloucestershire Archaeological Society have published thirty-five volumes since 1988, with these being volumes twenty-two and twenty-three. The edited records cover a huge range of history, from medieval to the early 1900s, with the common feature being that works are previously unpublished and likely to be a useful resource for future researchers and students. This set contains: Calendar of Summary Convictions at Petty Sessions 1781-1837, 2008. A collection of the relatively few records of the petty sessions, in which Justices of the Peace would hear charges of minor breaches of the law and impose penalties on those convicted. With historical notes and commentary. Edited by Irene Wyatt. The Bristol and Gloucestershire Lay Subsidy of 1523-1527, 2009. With a frontispiece. The records of a taxation levied under the Subsidy Act of 1523, recognised as providing important evidence of the social and economic condition of the county in the first half of King Henry VIII's reign. Bringing together all available relevant materials. Edited by M. A. Faraday.
