A very scarce first edition.

With text in both French and English.

Inscribed to the half title by Alain Panhard, who supplied the preface to this work. Alain was a descendant of René Panhard, a French engineer, merchant and a pioneer of the automobile industry in France.

The inscription is addressed to William Wrather, and is in French. It offers good wishes to the recipient, and refers to the 1st automobile course in the world.

Illustrated throughout in colour.

A wonderful history of the world's first motor race, which is sometimes referred to as the I Grand Prix de l'A.C.F.

Emile Levassor won the race in a Panhard & Levassor vehicle.

In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Inscription to half title. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
