What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Pleasing Copy, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

The first edition of this volume.

A lovely, bright copy of this volume detailing the history of railway in Scotland, beginning in the eighteenth century when horses pulled coal waggons along the rails of woods, through the first national railway in the Victorian era, and the first challenging times during the Depression.

Yet in the twenty first century passenger numbers and railway mileage increase again, and the heritage railways and museums work hard to preserve Scotland's railway identity.

Looking at the story of the technical developments in a social and cultural context.

Illustrated with beautiful photographs both in colour and in black and white.

With the unclipped dust wrapper.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear only. The dust wrapper is unclipped and excellent with only minor shelf wear. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with various plates throughout both in colour and in black and white of the railways in Scotland.
