Two volumes. First edition. An annual hardback volume of records relating to the history of Gloucestershire. The Bristol and Gloucestershire Archaeological Society have published thirty-five volumes since 1988, with these being volumes twenty-two and twenty-three. The edited records cover a huge range of history, from medieval to the early 1900s, with the common feature being that works are previously unpublished and likely to be a useful resource for future researchers and students. Both of these volumes contain records of the Feet of Fines, which have long been the standard sources used by English local historians. A foot of fine is the record of an agreement that resolved a dispute, real or pretend, commonly about the ownership of land. Edited by Christopher Robin Elrington, an English historian.
