The work of British poet and scholarly mystic A. E. Waite, who wrote extensively on occult and esoteric matters, and of Welsh author and mystic Arthur Machen.

Many investigators - including Aleister Crowley - have attempted to understand this work, which was first published in 1904 in a print run of three copies.

This edition, with an introduction and critical commentary from R. A. Gilbert, asserts that the work is a 'coded record of Machen and Waite’s nocturnal adventures around London'.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Dust wrapper exceptionally bright. Three minor light in marks to the front wrap, with a small ink notation to the head of the front flyleaf. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
