The work of British poet and scholarly mystic A. E. Waite, who wrote extensively on occult and esoteric matters, and of Welsh author and mystic Arthur Machen.
Many investigators - including Aleister Crowley - have attempted to understand this work, which was first published in 1904 in a print run of three copies.
This edition, with an introduction and critical commentary from R. A. Gilbert, asserts that the work is a 'coded record of Machen and Waite’s nocturnal adventures around London'.

Three minor light in marks to the front wrap, with a small ink notation to the head of the front flyleaf. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
