The opening novel in the 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' series of thirteen children's novels written by American author Daniel Handler under the pen name Lemony Snicket. 

Snicket also plays a part within the story itself, narrating and investigating the turbulent lives of orphaned siblings, Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire once they are placed in the custody of evil Count Olaf.

In the publisher's original boards, with cut-out to the front board. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
