The 'Blue Four' refers to the artists' group founded by famous art collector and dealer, Galka Scheyer, whose members were Lyonel Feininger, Paul Klee, Alexei Jawlnesky, and Vasily Kandinsky. The remarkable collection reproduced and presented here (most in full colour) comprise the groups' paintings, works on paper, and sculpture, now owned by the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California.
Also shown here are the works of other European artists including Pablo Picasso, Fernand Leger and El Lissitzky. Each entry contains full documentation and an essay situating the work within a historical context.
