Across the Nightingale Floor is the first of Lian Hearn's Tales of the Otori trilogy. It is set in a fictional, feudal Japanese land in the Sengoku period, and follows the story of a sixteen-year-old boy named Tomasu and fifteen-year-old girl named Kaede.
With an interesting Manyoshu poem epigraph from the Japanese poetry anthology From the Country of Eight Islands by Hiroaki Sato.
With a small advanced reading copy pamphlet from the uncorrected proofs loosely inserted.
