What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper, With Slipcase

In the publisher's original cloth binding, complete with the original unclipped dust wrappers and housed in the matching slipcase.

These volumes are the first editions, first impressions of these works.

Both volumes are illustrated with over 2000 photographs, reproduced in full colour.

Volume I covers trees, shrubs, and climbers, covering around 510 genera. The plants are presented in evolutionary order, from more primitive groups such as tree ferns, gingkoes, and some conifers to more recently evolved flowering woody plants including magnolias, and catkin-bearing trees, among many others.

Volume II covers herbaceous perennials, annuals, biennials, bulbs, aquatic plants, mosses, and more primitive groups, with around 550 genera being explored. In both volumes, each entry describes the plant's form, how to recognise them, their ecology and geography, and commentary on their cultivation.
