Limited to three hundred copies, of which this is number fifty. Illustrated with ten wood engravings of post-war London. Collated complete. The result of the artist's fascination with the home he adopted in 1939, when he left Germany which his young son. These works bring vividly to mind the bomb-sites profuse with buddleia, the shored-up ends of abruptly punctuated buildings, the myriad of smoking chimneys, the tram lines, and the barrow boys. Illustrated by Hellmuth Weissenborn, a German visual artist, painter, and wood engraver who spent the first half of his life in Leipzig before being forced to flee his homeland in early 1939 in the face of Nazi terror, finding refuge in Britain.
Condition
In the original paper covered boards with ribbon ties. Externally, excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
