What Our Customers Say...
Description
Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
From the Cyprus Cartography Lectures, No. 5 - The Andreas Hadjipaschalis Memorial Lecture. Very scarce work. Illustrated with twenty-six figures, many of which are in colour. A record of a lecture given by Shirley on 17th November, 1999, studying the survey of Cyprus presented by Field Marshal Horatio Herbert Kitchener, 1st Earl Kitchener, a British Army officer and colonial administrator from between 1878 and 1883. With notes added, this detailed volume provides insight into the survey, including features like roads, telegraph lines, and settlements, noting Christian or Muslim populations and providing both Greek and Turkish names. The map served as a cartographic standard for years and is still a valuable source for historical research on Cyprus. Written by Rodney Shirley, an English scholar, cartographer, and council member of the International Map Collectors' Society.
