What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
First edition, first impression. With the vanishingly scarce original glassine wrapper. Illustrated throughout with black-and-white photographs throughout. For over four decades Hedgecoe had been taking photographs of the leading figures in the worlds of art, literature, science, and politics. This comprehensive portfolio exhibits his technical skill and unerring ability to capture the essence of the sitter in a single frame. With examples of portraits from Winston Churchill to Mary Quant, accompanied by short anecdotes offering entertaining insights to the special relationship that exists between the photographer and his subject. From John Hedgecoe, a British photographer and author of over thirty books on photography. He established the photography department in 1965 at the Royal College of Art, where he was Professor and later Professor Emeritus, as well as being Pro-Rector of the college from 1981 to 1994. His photographs appear in permanent collections at the New York Museum of Modern Art and London's National Portrait Gallery.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also excellent with light sunning to the spine. With the original glassine wrapper taped over for protection. Glassine is very smart with the odd small closed tear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound.
