Written to aid a new generation of opera-goers in the discovery of the vividness of opera. Containing a work-by-work guide to over three hundred operas by more than one hundred composers. Produced by a team of international experts, providing an detailed account of the origins of each opera, an exploration of the music, highlights of instrumental and stage realisation, as well as recollections of some notable performers. Edited by Andras Batta, a Hungarian music historian, and Sigrid Neef, a German musicologist and theatre scholar, focused on Russian and Soviet opera.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Hinges just starting but firm. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also very smart with light wear and minor sunning to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
