Four volumes. First edition, first impressions. Published by T. & A. D. Poyser, a British publishing house founded by Trevor and Anna Poyser in 1973 to specialise in ornithology books. They often worked in conjunction with the British Trust for Ornithology to print important and informative studies. This set contains: Tundra Plovers: The Eurasian, Pacific and American Golden Plovers and Grey Plover, 1998. Illustrated with fifty-seven plates and numerous in-text figures. Collated complete. Written by Ingvar Byrkjedal, a Norwegian ecologist and ornithologist who is the Curator of Vertebrates at the Museum of Zoology at the University of Bergen, and Des Thompson, a British teacher, ornithologist and writer. Orkney Nature, 2000. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and numerous in-text figures, many of which are in colour. Written by Robert James Berry, a British geneticist, naturalist and Christian theorist. Lapland: A Natural History, 2005. Illustrated with two hundred and fifty-three in-text images, many of which are in colour. Collated complete. Written by Derek Almey Ratcliffe, one of the most significant British nature conservationists of the twentieth century. Ratcliffe was Chief Scientist for the Nature Conservancy Council at the Monks Wood Experimental Station, and the author of the 1977 Nature Conservation Review, a document which set out the most important sites for nature conservation in the United Kingdom. Birds in England, 2005. Illustrated with numerous in-text figures. Written by Andy Brown, an English naturalist and Head of Ornithology at English Nature, and Phil Grice, a British ornithologist for the Nature Conservancy Council.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrappers are also excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
