Dated c2000; while the copyright page indicates a publication date of 1997, to the rear of the work are three leaves of advertisements for later books in the series, including 'The Goblet of Fire', which was not published until the year 2000.

Although initially marketed toward children, the series would find enormous and unprecedented popularity across a huge demographic, and is roundly praised not only for reinstating the popularity of reading, but also for its allegorical warnings against discrimination and prejudice. The Philosopher's Stone is the first work in the incredibly influential series.

Reading 'highchair' not 'high chair' on page 8, with the latter being an early print point that this impression does not comply with.
