This is an impressive study of the artistry of lettering and symbolic forms carved in stone, wood, and metal, illustrated with numerous black-and-white and occasional red-toned photographs, diagrams, and design reproductions.

Sepp Jakob (1925–1993): Acclaimed sculptor and stone carver. He held a significant role at the Freiburger Münster restoration workshop and was a respected educator.

Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial hardback. Externally, lovely. Dust wrapper, excellent, with just one or two of the slightest handling marks. Cardboard slipcase a little worn, with rubbing and bumping to extremities and the odd slight handling mark. Jerry Cinamon's signature to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Signed by Wolfgang Jakob on the copyright page, "W. Jakob 21.11.07".
