Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Signed, With Dustwrapper

First edition. Signed by the author to the title page. Illustrated with twelve in-text maps and diagrams, and thirty-two plates of colour photographs. Collated complete. O the 9th of November 1992, Fiennes and Dr. Michael Stroud set out from the Filcher Ice Shelf to attempt the first unaided crossing of the Antarctic continent. It was a journey of epic proportions and one that was to capture the imagination of the entire world. This is the story of their ninety-seven days spent fighting pain, starvation, snow-blindness, and frostbite, dragging sledges across the frozen roof of the world. Written by Sir Ranulph Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, a British explorer, writer and poet, who holds several endurance records. According to the Guinness Book of World Records in 1984, he was the world's greatest living explorer.
