What Our Customers Say...
Description
Early Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce
The second impression. First published in 1989.
Bound in the publisher's original bright green pictorial paper wraps.
Scarce work.
A collection of charming illustrations by Beatrix Potter, alongside the poetry version of the story of Peter Rabbit, written by Potter's friend and mentor, Hardwicke Rawnsley.
Due to initial lack of interest from publishers regarding Peter Rabbit, Rawnsley suggested he write a rhyming accompaniment to Potters illustrations. This poetical version was rejected by Frederick Warne and Co, however, they were interested in Potter's manuscript, also sent in by Rawnsley, and requested further material.
Rawnsley's verse version was subsequently published in this form by the Beatrix Potter society in 1989, taken from a handwritten booklet by Potter collector, Leslie Linder.
Condition
Bound in the publisher's original bright green pictorial paper wraps. Externally, excellent, with one or two marks to cover. Internally, firmly bound with very bright and clean pages.
