Written by English author Lindsey Davis, who is best known for her historical novels and for the creation of the Falco historical crime series, set in the ancient Roman Empire.
'Shadows in Bronze' is the second novel in Davis' Falco series, following on from the success of 'The Silver Pigs'.
In this particular story, the protagonist Marcus Didius Falco is becoming unnerved by a series of fatal accidents surrounding him, and so he sets off on a ramble through Roman holiday locations, accompanied by close friend Petronius. The pair visit many historical cities, including Pompeii, which they label as "a place that intends to last".
