This volume is a first edition. 

This is an exceptionally scarce copy of this work, being one among 2080 copies printed. 

This work captures the Greek city of Thessaloniki during an era of pivotal change, captured through the photography of Daniel Baud-Bovy.

1913 saw the result of the Balkan Wars, when Thessaloniki came under Greek administration (1912-13) following Ottoman rule. In 1919, following World War I, the city was affected by post-war treaties and population movements, including the Treaty of Neuilly, the Greek and Ottoman population exchanges, among others.

Condition

In the publisher's original glossy stiff paper wraps. Bookplate of Francis E. B. Witts to front paste down. Crease to lower corner of front wrap, slightly warping this area. The odd slight spot to lower perimeters of front wrap. Bookplate from the Ministry of Culture, Archeological Resources Fund to rear paste down. Dust wrapper, excellent. The odd spot and handling mark to perimeters. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
