Set in a near-future New England in a patriarchal, totalitarian theonomic state known as the Republic of Gilead, Atwood's celebrated futuristic dystopian novel follows a woman named Offred, who is assigned to produce children for the ruling class.

The Handmaid's Tale won the 1985 Governor General's Award and the first Arthur C. Clarke Award in 1987. Its sequel, The Testaments, won the Booker Prize in 2019.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Dust wrapper exceptionally bright, with minor handling marks to back strip head and tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned to perimeters due to paper type, but clean.
