Illustrated with a frontispiece of No. 45 Frith Street, Soho, in which the Sydenham Society was once housed, as well as nine other in-text illustrations.

The Sydenham and the New Sydenham Societies were active from 1844 until 1911, and took it upon themselves to publish important medical works by prominent figures. During the societies' activity, they published some 230 volumes.

In the publisher's original card wraps with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart, with just the slightest edgewear. Dust wrapper is in excellent condition with a touch of wear to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
