The first edition, first impression of this work, with the inscription 'Rod, it was a long time hatching, but once it was under your wing I knew I hadn't laid an egg. Thanks, too, for 'Fledger', with much love, Nick'. This inscription is dated March, 1985.
Rod Hall was a prominent British literary agent who represented a number of successful writers, including Simon Beaufoy, and the playwright and film director Martin McDonagh.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with light bumps to spine head and tail. Author's inscription to front free endpaper. Light sunning to dust wrapper back strip with light discolouration to head of rear wrap. Spotting to dust wrapper reverse at head. Internally, firmly bound. Pages significantly age toned to perimeters due to paper type, but otherwise clean and bright.
