Facsimile of the 1903 edition of this work. A complete cookbook and guide to running a household, being a compendium of recipes, cooking techniques, nutrition information, serving procedures and other useful information was intended to support young women raising their families. The context for the cookbook was the Settlement House of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which served the needs of recent immigrants including many Jewish families arriving from Europe. Written by Elizabeth Black Kander, an American progressive reformer, philanthropist and author, founder of a settlement house in Milwaukee, and Gisella Schoenfeld, an American author who was the wife of composer Henry Schoenfeld. With original advertisements printed to the front and rear of the book.

In the original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, excellent. Original price-clipped dust wrapper is smart with light wear to the extremities and the odd small mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper.
