What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce, With Dustwrapper

The first edition, first impression of the work.

With the original unclipped pictorial dust wrapper.

With several detailed monochrome vignette illustrations by Carolyn Beresford accompanying the text, including a frontispiece of the sketch by Graham Robertson which was the sole illustration to appear in the first edition of The Wind in the Willows published in 1908.

An especially handsome copy of his scarce work.

Kenneth Grahame is best remembered as the author of the beloved children's work The Wind in the Willows, which follows Mole, Ratty, and Badger in their endeavour to help a motorcar-mad Mr Toad. This work brings together a collection of essays which both bear the mark of Grahame's deft style and reveal some of the initial ideas that would come to fruition in The Wind in the Willows.

Condition

In the original publisher's binding with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent with a touch of bumping to the head of the spine. Light offsetting to the pastedowns and end papers. Wrapper is likewise excellent, just a trifle sunned at its front top edge. Internally, firmly bound with pages that are exceptionally bright and clean, again with just a touch of toning.
