This is a facsimile edition of General Gaspard Gourgaud’s French-perspective account of Napoleon’s military operations in France and Belgium after his return from exile. This faithfully reproduces the original, which emerged just three years after Waterloo. Having risen from the position of artillery lieutenant to become Napoleon’s ordnance officer and personal aide-de-camp, Gaspard combines his narrative account with documents to illustrate strategic decisions from the French headquarters, writing with Napoleon’s notes beside him.
