The first edition second impression of this work. Held in the original unclipped dustwrapper. 'Mantissa' is a novel formed of imaginary dialogue in the narrator's head, between him and the Muse Erato. John Fowles was an influential writer of the twentieth century. His writing was inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus. He is best known for his novels 'The Magnus' and 'The French Lieutenant's Woman'.

In the original publisher's cloth binding, held in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. Light sunning to the spine of the dustwrapper, with a couple of minor marks to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
