Description

First Edition, Illustrated, With Dustwrapper

The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper.

Illustrated with thirty illustrations to the rear of the volume. Collated, complete.

In this scholarly work, Small uses evidence from the Roman forum, Late Roman Republic and Greek Imperial coins, as well as the Palantine and Aventine, to show the connection between Cacus and Marsyas. She shows how Etruscans adapted art, such as Greek and South Italian vase paintings, to represent their own mythology.

The author Jocelyn Penny Small has written many works on classical art and antiquities.
